Lightworks Guide doesn't ask you for anything: there are no accounts, newsletter sign-ups, comments, upload forms or adverts on the site. Reading a page still leaves two kinds of record. Ghost, the platform that hosts the site, receives the technical request, and Ghost's built-in analytics counts the page view without cookies. No advertising or third-party tracking scripts run here.
Page-view analytics
The site uses Ghost's first-party, cookie-free web analytics. It doesn't set cookies or use any other persistent browser storage to recognise you, so unique visitors are counted within 24-hour windows and a reader who returns a few days later counts again. Each page view sends the page address, the referring site, any campaign tags in the link, your browser's user-agent string and language, and an approximate country worked out from your device's time-zone setting.
That data goes through this site's own domain to Ghost and its analytics partner Tinybird. For sites on Ghost(Pro), including this one, Ghost stores it in EU regions. In the Ghost dashboard we see totals such as views per guide, top sources and countries, and we use them to decide which guides need work first.
Hosting and technical requests
Opening a page sends a request to Ghost and its delivery services, as visiting any website does. Ghost's privacy policy describes collecting IP addresses and aggregated technical information, including browser type and version when its services are used. Images come from Ghost's storage and delivery network, and the site search widget loads from the jsDelivr content delivery network, so those services receive the same kind of request.
Guide search
The guide catalog filters published titles and summaries in your browser. Your phrase can still appear in the page address, and opening, sharing or submitting that address sends it to the server like any other link. Keep private details out of the search box.
Links and following
Guides link to Lightworks documentation, forum threads and other sources beside the claims they support. Ghost adds ref=lightworksguide.net to those outbound links so the receiving site can see where the visit came from. Once you leave, that site's own privacy policy applies.
You can also follow the site from Mastodon or another ActivityPub app. A follow shares your public profile handle with the site, as following any account does, and you can undo it from your own app.
